Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped (1 & 1/2 cups)
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped (1 cup)
  • 1 (14.5oz) can diced tomatoes (do not drain)
  • 1 (8oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 (15.5oz) cans Mrs. Grimes® Navy Beans (drained, rinsed)
  • OR 2 (15.5oz) cans Mrs. Grimes® Great Northern Beans (drained, rinsed)
  • 1 (15.5oz) can Mrs. Grimes® Pinto Beans (drained, rinsed)
  • 1 (15oz) can Mrs. Grimes® Black Beans (drained, rinsed)

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 (15.5oz) cans Mrs. Grimes® Navy Beans (drained, rinsed)
  • OR 2 (15.5oz) cans Mrs. Grimes® Great Northern Beans (drained, rinsed)
  • 1 (15.5oz) can Mrs. Grimes® Pinto Beans (drained, rinsed)
  • 1 (15oz) can Mrs. Grimes® Black Beans (drained, rinsed)

Directions

Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 3-quart baking dish with cooking spray. In 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat 8 minutes or until thoroughly cooked, stirring occasionally. Add onion and bell pepper; cook 5 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in all ingredients except beans. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 5 minutes. Stir in beans. Spoon mixture into baking dish. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until bubbly, stirring twice.

Tips: This is a family-friendly side dish – great for a picnic with grilled meats. Or serve larger portions as a main dish casserole.
You can substitute yellow mustard for the spicy brown mustard if you prefer. Either will work in this recipe.
